Canon EOS 70D - Move over Spielberg and Bailey!

.So Canon have announced the long awaited EOS 70D. For many people, this is just the next camera in the range. However, there is more to it than that...a lot more.
Yes, it comes with an improved resolution (20.2 Million Pixels), a durable designed body, and it comes with a variable angled LCD. Yet, delve a little deeper and you will find a massive improvement over its predecessors.
Surprisingly (for some), the camera is not supplied with a traditional 17-85mm IS USM lens. And there is a reason for this. Canon have introduced a new type of lens system called STM. At the time of writing this, there was only three EF/EF-s STM lenses available (18-55mm IS STM, 18-135mm IS STM & 40mm f2.8 STM) So why is it so important?
Well, Canon have may an incredibly strong name for themselves in the movie making industry with amazing quality footage. So much so, you'll have probably already seen examples of this in films such as The Avengers Assemble, Iron Man 2, Black Swan, and on TV in House.
However, with the exception of four cameras (650D, 100d, 700D and the 70D), it was better to focus manually as the automatic focusing was incredibly slow. Now all that has changed. With STM lenses, the focusing is done in lightning quick speed.
Connectivity is a word you hear a lot, but what does it mean? Without the use of adapters, special SD Cards or wireless transmitters, the EOS 70D can send images and videos your tablet, smartphone or computer. Better still, you can even control the camera from those same devices.
And to top it all off, with the Digic 5+ Processor in the 70D, the “rolling shutter” effect has been expelled.
Now it’s not all about being the next Ron Howard or Steven Spielberg. The camera fires out at an amazing 7 Frames per second meaning you will always be able to capture the moment in high speed.
Low Light photography is made easy with an ISO of up to 12800 (expandable to 25600), meaning that no you can handle shots without a flash.
What is Dual Pixel CMOS AF?
Dual Pixel CMOS AF is a sensor-based, phase detection Auto Focus (AF) technology, designed to provide smooth, high-performance focus tracking in movies and fast autofocus acquisition when shooting still images in Live View mode. It is a unique, Canon-developed technology, which is ideal for creating professional looking pull-focus effects and keeping a subject moving towards the user in sharp focus while maintaining a blurred background – a defining characteristic of EOS Movies.
So….for budding David Bailey’s or David Lynch’s (or anyone else called David taking pictures or movies), this is the one camera that will change your world and make your results last for eternity.
